Hello,

Me and my wife completed initial landing procedures. Unfortunately due to some reason we were not able to do initial landing for our 8 month baby. We will be in india for the next 2 to 3 years. After that, we will move to Australia. We want to apply for baby PR again after one year from India. Is it possible and what is the procedure?

Thanks.

Hi there:

My name is Tiffany and I am a U.S. citizen living in Madrid. Does anyone have recommendations for a trustworthy mail forwarding service so that I can retrieve mail from the United States? I have seen U.S. Global Mail mentioned in some of the other forums but I was wondering if anyone here had personal experience with this.

Please let me know. Thanks in advance!

How Not To Deal With Mexican Authorities

$

So, some biker retards from Shiner, Texas (Shiner, Texas - what the hell is that - Hooterville in the scrub?)are planning a ride over the 1,300 miles from Shiner to Tijuana to "free" that U,S, Marine caught by Mexican authorities carrying firearms and ammunition into Mexico claiming he did not know he was in Mexico. He may be telling the truth but as an ex-Marine from way back in the 1960s, I consider that at the very least he was careless. I learned at Parris Island in 1960 that arms are to be treated with respect and riding around on the somewhat nebulous Mexican/U.S. border not only with weapons of war but ammunition with which to engage them is a behavior discouraged in the extreme among enlisted and commisioned Marine Corps authorities.

I don´t recall as an e-Marine any more reckless behavior than carrying war weapons and ammunition in one´s personal pickup truck along an ill-defined border in the middle of the wilderness or on the outskirts of a city noted for violence and corruption over many years before any of us were even born.

The idea of what these Texas redneck bikers from Shiner and their kin hope to accomplish is ludicrous at best. The last thing these semi-thugs should wish upon this Marine is that they inadvertently piss off the Mexican authorities which will cause them, rightfully, to dig in their heals. These morons are not doing this guy any favors with this cowardly display of self-righteousness. This is all bluff and these goons will not even get past the U.S. border patrol much less the Mexican border patrol and they know this ia a farcical outing even if they do, as they have speculated, draw a big crowd of sympathizers. The idea here is an excuse for a motor road trip perhaps to terrorize inhabitants of hick towns between Shiner and Tijuana. Major BS but if it comes off, this should be fun to watch

clinics?

Okay, so I'm back because obviously I have something more severe than a traditional cold.
I was reading online that there are quick clinics, like in America, and you pay anywhere from €28-€32 to see a doctor (who can prescribe antibiotics) and then pay for the prescription. Has anyone heard of this?
I don't have travel insurance and my health insurance back home doesnt cover anything abroad.
I seriously need antibiotics or something better than prospan (what I got at the pharmacy the other day) for my cough. I'm pretty sure I have a sinus infection or Maybe even the flu as I'm coughing up green mucus, and I have heavy pressure in my head. I also cough so much that I gag and this will go on for hours, not to mention my stomach muscles hurt a lot from all the coughing. My eyes also have a burning sensation...

So, if anyone has any experience with this clinics or can suggest one, that would be great.

Is there a ban if you change employer before completing first 2 years?

Hi there,

I want to know, will an employee be banned for 6 months from working by Ministry of Labour if the employee holding a Dubai or Sharjah Free Zone visa shifts to another employer before completing their first 2 years of employment with the first employer? I am asking this for both the cases, i.e. shifting from FZ company to FZ company and from FZ company to non-FZ private company. Which authority can be approached to have an authoritative answer regarding this query.

Thanks.

SIREN and Healthcare

Apologies if this has been answered on the forum in the past, and please be gentle to a new member :)

We are moving to France in August this year, which is both exciting and scary in equal measures, and are trying to find our way through the business set-up process well in advance.

Can someone confirm that we can apply for a SIREN number under the Auto-Entrepreneur scheme before we leave the UK (I understand that this can be done on line?). We have purchased a property, so can provide a French address, and we have a French bank account but that's about all.

If we get the SIREN number sorted, what about the Carte Vitale - can we apply for that in advance also?

It doesn't help of course that the temporary S1 is no longer available, so we have to get the business registered and healthcare provision in place as soon as possible.

Any help would be gratefully received!

Is "Key Money" legal in Spain?

Hi People,
On a recent visit to Velez Malaga I noticed some accommodation agents, with flats for rent, were asking for "entrada"
Can anyone tell me what this is? Is it similar to the English "key money" that used to be demanded and is now, I think, Illegal? Is this still legal in Spain?
The sums were substantial, €2000-3000.
Thanks.

Building in Tulum

I have decided to settle in Tulum and will be remodelling an existing building to covert it into a posada. However, I will be doing this on somewhat of a tight budget. and I am already feeling a little overwhelmed with conflicting information and very vague costings.

Naturally, I don't want to just wade in and would benefit greatly from some local knowledge with regards to the building process and the legalities entailed.

If anyone could offer pointers it would be greatly appreciated!!

Spouse visa new rules

Hi,

I have a question regarding absence if someone can help please.

My wife got her spouse visa in June 2013. She came to the UK on 30th June 2013.

In March 2014 she attended a family wedding overseas for which she travelled alone as I had work commitments and she spent 40 days there. 2 days after she came back we both went abroad for 7 days on Holiday to Turkey.

I am planning on going for the Muslim pilgrimage Hajj this year with my wife. It will mean leaving the country again for a further approximately 60 days. In total she will have spent approx 140 days this year away from the UK for various reasons.

Will it cause us any problems with the absences described above when applying for her 30 month visa or her ILR.

Thanks

An Expat Looks Back at 2 Years

Quote:

2 years ago we left northern Calif; packed up our little truck and pulling a trailer full of clothes, bicycles, pots and pans, lots of books and just a couple of pieces of furniture (one of which did not survive the trip), my husband, our dog, and I changed our lives forever.
The above is a quote from "After 2 years in Mexico", which appears in the blog of one of our forum participants, terrybahena (Next Up: Mexico: After 2 years in Mexico). I hope she doesn't mind my making reference to it. :) Terry has, from the beginning of her new life in Mexico, shared her experiences. "After 2 years in Mexico" should probably be required reading for someone unfamiliar with Mexico and who is contemplating a relocation. Thanks to Terry for letting us peak into her life in Mexico!

Live in Spain yet maintain an SC Footprint in UK

$

A friend of mine would love to live ( and if possible ) work in Spain but
for career and future job security reasons needs to maintain a footprint
in the UK.
The reason being he's an IT Contractor and in previous roles has obtained
the coverted SC Security Clearance to work on MOD sites or on defence
related work or contracts, eg with BAE Systems, Rolls Royce Aerospace, etc.

The thing is SC Security Clearance isn't for life, in fact it only really lasts
for the duration of your contract or for the period of employment in
which your engaged in Defence related or Government work.
But the beauty is that if you've ever held SC Security Clearance in the
past. It's fairly easy to have your SC Security Clearance re-established
in the future - as the Govt Vetting Agency only needs to look back over
the time since you were last cleared, ie no Crimminal convictions, not been
declared bankrupt, CCJ's or dodgy political associations, etc.
The downside is that if, for any reason you become Resident abroad - he
would have to live and work for a period of upto 5 years in UK before he can
ever be considered eligible for SC Security Clearance again.

So you see - a real threat to your livilihood, particularly when you consider
that the safest long term job prospects in the UK these days are those
related to Government work that cannot be outsourced or off shored abroad.

Therefore are there any Expat Brits in Spain who have managed to dodge
residency in Spain and still be considered resident in the UK and therefore
managed to hang onto their SC eligibility - while enjoying at the sametime
a significant amount of time in Spain ??

This beauty flew onto my shoulder from the wild and hopped around without concern for 10 minutes, before flying off across the field toward the neighbor. I feel sure it must be an escaped cage bird - anyone know the species?

Any inputs on ASP.Net/MVC job market in Australia

Hi All, I received grant for Australian PR (Subclass 189) 3 days back, which luckily was a smooth process. I realise that the actual struggle starts now - getting a job in Australia. I have over 7 years of experience in ASP.Net with MVC, WCF, Ajax, LINQetc. I do see a lot of openings on seek, indeed and other job portals but the reviews of job market do scare me !! Appreciate any help from any expat who has already moved to Australia and got a job in the same technology as me.

I have had six trains canceled in the space of two days. Yet supposedly half the trains are running?

Am NOT looking forward to driving from Tours to Charles de Gaulle tomorrow, with 300km of traffic jams around Paris and me in my un air conditioned Ford Fiesta, to pick up a surly teenager after a transatlantic flight. AARGH.
